The Govt Sadiq College Women University:

The Govt Sadiq College Women University was established in 1944 as an intermediate college. It got status of a University in 2010. It is gradually developing into a high ranked University of Pakistan. It was built to meet the growing need of female education institutions in the city of Bahawalpur. Before it gained the status of a University, the girls of Bahawalpur had to travel in distant cities and reside in hostels for higher education pursuit. GSCWU is consisted of faculties of Science, Humanities, Business and Management Sciences, Education and Islamic Learning. The University is met with positive outcome; a large number of students are enrolled in its post graduate programmes.

The teaching faculty of GSCWU is consisted of well trained and efficient members; most of them are PhD scholars. The facilities that are being provided by the University include: CAFETERIA, CLUB AND SOCITIES, HEALTH CENTER, ISLAMIC CENTER, LIBRARY, SCHOLARSHIP and TRANSPORT. The academic section of University is working diligently with the aim of equipping its students with education of international standards and confidence to embrace their practical life with grace. The University regularly organizes seminars and conferences for social development o its alumni. All the rules and regulations of GSCWU are designed under Punjab Assembly   (Act VIII of 2013).Because of establishment of GSCWU in Bahawalpur, the higher education system in the city has improved.
