National Defence University:

National Defence University is a public military University situated in Islamabad, Pakistan. It was established in 1970. It gained status of a University in 2007, before that is was called Staff College. The University was established to provide critical learning for formulating National defence Policy and also to provide Defence strategy for national policy of Pakistan. The University is mutually funded by Education commission of Pakistan and Defence Ministry of Pakistan. The university is offering BS , Mphill, PhD Courses in programs such as; Government and Public Policy, International Relations, Leadership and Management Studies, Peace and Conflict Studies and Strategic and Nuclear Studies. NDU has played a very instrumental role in constitution of Pakistan’s Defence Policy.

NDU is functional as Pakistan’s Think Tank and it has close collaborative relationship with all of Pakistan’s military institutions, training centers and universities. From 1972 till 2009, NDU offered mainly two courses: War Course and National Defence Course. Both the courses were designed under supervision of expert teachers and military strategists and the courses being taught now are equally inclusive as the two before. The University has 4 constituent colleges such as: National Security College, Armed Forces War College, Faculty of Contemporary Studies (FCS) and Institute of Strategic Studies; Research and Analysis (ISSRA). The three colleges affiliated to NDU are Command and Staff College, Quetta, Pakistan Navy War College, Lahore and PAF Air War College, Karachi.
