Health Department Govt. of Azad Jammu and Kashmir:

The health department of Azad Jammu and Kashmir is responsible for ensuring disease prevention and territory care of the area. The department has to function for the betterment of quality of health and status of health of the entire population of Azad Jammu and Kashmir; it has to provide facilities in the hospital, oversee the hospitals are providing services as per the directives of Health ministry, educate general population regarding health and diseases, promote the health care services in the area and deliver health care services to the poor community which should be similar to health care services being provided to upper class community of the area.

It is providing series such as: Dental Services, MCH Services and Common Diseases in AJ$K. The common health problems of the area are Diarrhea, Dysentery, ARI, Fever (Clinical Malaria), Cough more than 2 weeks, Suspected Cholera, Sus. Meningococcal Meningitis, Poliomyelitis, Measles, Neonatal Tetanus, Diphtheria, Whooping Cough, Goiter, Suspected viral Hepatitis, Suspected Aids, Snake bite, Dog Bite and Scabies. The Mother and Child care problems are major health issues in Pakistan and especially in area like AJ$K. It is often ignored which results in deaths of mothers during pre mature deliveries. The health department has responsibility to educate the general public regarding this prevailing issue and ensure measures to be taken to control it and prevent its occurring.
