ENTRY TEST SAMPLE PAPER

Part-I PHYSICS

In this part of the test you will have 30 questions like the ones given below. You will answer as many questions as you can.

  1. The product of mass and velocity is called
    A. Acceleration B. Moment Arm C. Negative Acceleration D. Momentum

We know that the product of mass and velocity is called momentum. Hence the correct answer is Momentum. Therefore, the letter 'D' will be written on the answer sheet.

  2. Which one of the following represents the unit of acceleration?
    A. ms,    B. ms-2,    C. ms2,    D. ms2s2

Acceleration is measured in meters per second. So the circle under column "B"
should be filled on the answer sheet.
  3. A car has an initial speed of 15 m/s and an acceleration of 2m/s. After first 10 seconds, the car will be travelling at
    A. 17 m/s    B. 20 m/s    C. 35 m/s    D. 250 m/s

We know that vf - vi + at, therefore the speed will be 15 + 20 = 35. Hence the circle under column 'C' should be filled on the answer sheet.

Part-II MATHEMATICS

This part of the test consists of 30 items, such as the ones shown in the examples below. You will solve as many items as you can.
  1. Given sets A and B, (AUB)'=
    A.  A' U B'     B.  A' ∩ B'    C.  AUB    D. A∩B

The De Morgan law states that (AUB)' = A' ∩ B'  therefore, the correct choice is "B", and you will write B on the answer sheet.

  2. Given A is a 2x2 matrix then the product of A and its inverse is a _____
    A. 4x4 matrix     B. 2x2 null matrix     C. 2x2 identity matrix
    D. 4x4 identity matrix

A matrix of order n x n multiplied by its inverse yields an n x n identity matrix.
Therefore, the third choice is the correct one, and you will write "C" on the answer
    sheet.

  3. A sum of two consecutive positive integers is 113 and their difference is 1.
    The integers are
    A. 8,9          B.  16,17        C. 56,57        D. 69,70

Let x and y be the unknown integers. Then according to the given information
x + y = 113, and x - y = 1. Solving these two linear equations simultaneously we get x + 57 and y + 56. Therefore, the third choice is the correct one, and you will write "C" on the answer sheet.

Part-Ill ENGLISH

In this part of the test you have 10 questions like the ones given below. You will answer as many questions as you can.

This part of the test consists of sentences, all of which contain some mistake(s) related to grammar, punctuation and/or spellings.

In the first type of sentences, some segments of each sentence are underlined Your task is to identify that underlined segment of the sentence, which contains the mistake that needs to be corrected. Write its corresponding letter in the answer sheet.

In the second type of wrong sentences, four alternative sentences are given. Only one of them is correct. You are supposed to look at each alternative sentence very carefully and to choose that alternative which contains no mistakes. You are required to write the appropriate letter in the answer sheet
.
Given below are a few examples. The correct answers of these examples are givenin the sample answer sheet.
