VU signs agreement with NED to promote distant learning and technology entrepreneurship

Lahore: Virtual University of Pakistan signs MoU along with NED University’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) to cooperate in research, education and innovation projects. The relationship is made to establish a strong connection among the two institutes to promote private enterprise and education.

This MoU between the two institutes was signed by Registrar of Virtual University of Pakistan, Prof. Dr. Masroor Elahi Babar and Director ORIC-NEDUET, Dr. Syed Mehmood Hasan.

In this regard, Virtual University (VU) will be providing support in terms of forming the infrastructure of distance learning, whereas NED University will provide support in the technical entrepreneurship and engineering zone.

Higher Education Commission, Pakistan has established ORIC Offices in different varsities crosswise the country. All these offices are targeted at promoting entrepreneurship and innovation as well as working towards commercializing academic research.

ORIC Office at NED University started its functioning in 2014, and since then it has been supporting several research and entrepreneurial activities for the aspirants as well as the faculty members.

NED University’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) has launched 3D Printing Facility Lab under MakerStudio, motivated from the MIT’s Fab Lab to introduce multidisciplinary learning at the university’s campus. The Office is all set to launch the NED University’s business incubation center, CINETIC in upcoming weeks.
