Lahore, Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University (LCWU), Lahore Prof. Dr. Sabiha Mansoor left UK to participate Leadership Training Program to be held in Glasgow during 29 January-4 February 2012 . Dr. Sabiha told that this training is being organized by the Higher Education Commission in collaboration with British Council Pakistan and Leadership Foundation for Higher Education. 14 Vice Chancellors/ Rectors and Head of Degree awarding institutions from Pakistan will participate in this program.
This programme has been developed by the Leadership Foundation for Higher Education in conjunction with the Pakistan Higher Education Commission and the British Council, as a contribution to international cooperation and, more particularly, to the continuing evolution of Pakistan universities. It builds upon intensive study visits made by three groups of Pakistan Vice Chancellors 2008-2010 and a workshop of participants in Islamabad in 2009.
The agendas for change generated by these discussions in terms of group reports and personal action plans will be pursued in this programme which is designed for a group of newly appointed vice-chancellors of Pakistani public universities and senior officers of HEC to enable them to obtain a systematic understanding of the principal policy agendas in UK HE; especially in a Scottish setting of the government-university interface; and of the governance, management of UK universities. Secondly to identify key issues in the management and development of Pakistani universities which could benefit from consideration against parallel experiences and initiatives in Scottish/UK universities.
Thirdly to evaluate UK and Scottish experience on these issues presented in discussions and institutional visits, and determine the outlines of action plans on the selected issues for implementation in participant’s universities in Pakistan and finally to Facilitate cooperation between Scottish and Pakistani universities in education and research.
