Lahore: To facilitate the Pakistani aspirants along with the funding for higher education in China, the University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences (UVAS) on Wednesday established a Pak-China Desk on the varsity campus.

The vice chancellor of UVAS Prof Dr Talat Naseer Pasha together with the Prof Dr SHI Zhengli from Wuhan Institute of Virology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China, inaugurated this Pak-China Desk.

UVAS Prof Dr Habiur Rehman, Prof Dr Kamran Ashraf, Associate Professor Dr Aqeel Javeed as well as large number of aspirants were also present on the event.

During his address at the inauguration ceremony, Dr Talat said that the main reasons of establishing the desk at UVAS were to facilitate the apsirants along with the funding, so that they will be able to get higher education in China.

He furthermore said that the desk will also assist in developing close link along with the Chinese Embassy at Lahore about promotional material from Chinese varsities, industries and enhancing student and faculty exchange between China and Pakistan.

To promote research teamwork in the field of livestock and the relevant zones, the desk will conduct seminars, conferences, as well as workshops on regions of mutual interest, whereas the promotion of Chinese culture and language in the UVAS was also included in its objectives, he added.
