USAID inaugurates resource centre at FCC

Lahore, A resource centre was inaugurated at Forman Christian College’s (FCC) Centre for Public Policy and Governance on Monday which is supported by the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The centre was inaugurated by USAID Mission Director for Punjab Jeffrey N. Bakken.

The resource centre, organized with a cost of Rs22.8 million, will support and promote practical research in Pakistan. It will serve as a combined resource to provide students, researchers and policymakers with literature, data and training facilities to cover the way for informed decision-making at all levels.

At the same event, USAID’s FIRMS Project Chief of Party Donald Hart and FCC’s CPPG Director Dr Shafqat Saeed signed a memorandum of understanding to develop ‘Vision 2035’ for the city of Lahore.

This cooperation provides an outline on policy, institutional and regulatory reforms that will help policymakers in Punjab establish the systems that are efficient and conducive to economic advancement.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Bakken said the US support would go a long way for improving the policy and decision-making processes in Punjab and ensuring a better future for Lahore.

He said establishment of the resource centre was a step in the right direction for creating favourable conditions for research, policy formulation and development in Pakistan.

The collaboration between the CPPG and USAID FIRMS Project is an innovative project, and that ‘Lahore Vision 2035’ will be a successful joint venture demonstrating strong interaction towards a defensible future for the city of Lahore, he said.

Forman Christian College University, or FCCU, is a chartered university in Lahore, Pakistan, named after its American-born founder, Dr. Charles William Forman. Currently, FCC University offers Baccalaureate, Masters and MS/MPhil degrees. FC College University enjoys international fame due to its excellent academic background.

The university has designed its four year Bachelors Degree program in accordance with the standards for accreditation in the USA, and is seeking accreditation through the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
