UOG organizes workshop for teachers and heads of schools

Gujrat: University of Gujrat (UoG) in association along with Higher Education Commission (HEC) has organized a three-week long extensive training workshop for heads and teachers of elementary schools from the government and private sector in the district.

Under the theme of 2016 − Hand-Holding of Schools − the workshop entitled as “Capacity building of the social change agents: heads & teachers of elementary schools from government and private sectors ” is one of the latest steps taken by University of Gujrat  department of education through the university’s Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC).

The workshop is targeted at boosting relationships between UoG and local community and also promoting UoG as an institution serving the society by conveying knowledge and skills.

The workshop focused on the management of schools through hands-on approach and teachers’ mentoring with an emphasis on student-centred interactive classroom teaching and learning.

The registrar of University of Gujrat was the chief guest of the workshop. At the opening ceremony he said:

“The varsity has launched a number of initiatives to assist in accomplishing the educational targets at school level.”

“Education and training are the main elements in the development of nations. A university-school relationship would go a long way in bringing about the much-needed reforms in the education system of school”, he added.

Gujrat EDO (Education) Muhammad Tahir Kashif, the guest of honour at the opening ceremony of workshop, said that teachers must keep themselves well-informed about the changes being introduced in the advanced education system.

The head of UoG Department of Education Dr Muhammad Bashir Gondal in his address greeted the participants. He further said that this workshop will have a positive impact on the promotion of knowledge in society.
