Peshawar, The Institute of Education and Research (IER) of University of Peshawar has launched four-year B.Ed (Honours) elementary degree programme with the support of USAID and Pre-service teachers` education programme (Pre-step) in Pakistan.
Dean Faculty of Social Sciences Dr Sara Safdar was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony while chief of Pre-step Dr Mahmoodul Hassan was also present on the occasion, said a UoP press release.
Dr Wazim Khan, coordinator of the programme, said that the Higher Education Commission had approved courses of the four-year programme and this year the IER institute had enrolled 25 students in B.Ed (Hons).
He said that 15 of the enrolled students had been given scholarship which would cover their admission and boarding charges. The provincial government is also on board to recruit all the trained teachers of B.Ed (hons) elementary in grade 16 and 17 respectively, he said.
