Higher Education Commissioin (HEC), Pakistan on Tuesday clear up that universities are not under any commitment to conduct Graduate Assessment Test (GAT) through National Testing Service (NTS) in Pakistan.

An authoritative body of HEC told APP that HEC has given the instructions to the universities to hold their own entrance GAT tests instead of the NTS for admissions at higher level.

HEC unconditionally rejects the statements of the aspirants of various private universities, saying that HEC was asking them to pass the GAT held under the supervision of NTS.

Large number of aspirants of various private universities said that HEC was asking their universities to hold GAT test conducted by NTS.

Though, the students of Riphah International as well as of the private universities said that they had already passed intra-university test mandatory for M.Phil degree however the said university was directed from HEC to go through the similar procedure yet again.

It is required to mention here that that Lahore High Court in a judgement in March 2014, on the request of female student Syeda Anam Ilyas, had announced that NTS as illegal asking HEC to certify that no more tests will be directed by any private organization till it is organized through the complete legislature.

Shumoon Kiyani, a student of M.Phil predestined the decision of Higher Eduaction Commission and also warned the officials about doing the protest and moving to court against the undue decision. He moreover said that “We will go to any level if HEC does not take back its decision of test.

Another student Asad Iqbal said that, we will not accept any decision of this sort by apex body of education regulates the future of aspirants”.
