Karachi: The Universities all over Sindh observed a strike on Wednesday to protest against the interference of government in their affairs.

The educational as well as managerial activities remained suspended as the faculty protested against a 3 year old Sindh University Amendment Act which permits the government to directly appoint employees at universities avoiding the university senate which makes these decisions.

“On one hand the government wishes to control the varsities whereas on the other hand it does not release funds for universities.”

He furthermore added that retired professors were still working at varsities and so young staff could not be promoted.

FAPUASA has been holding protests against the act since it was passed in 2013.
