UMT organizes an Interfaith Dialogue

An Interfaith Dialogue was organized at University of Management and Technology (UMT) where the delegates from the United States associated along with the US-Pakistan Interreligious Consortium (UPIC); an international forum that promotes the positive dialogue between the scholars of different religions gathered as well as shared their views together with their Pakistani colleagues on how to lessen the political, social and cultural strains between the two countries, maintain peace as well as harmony between religions, and highlight the similarities instead of the differences of Judaism, Christianity and Islam, which share the Abrahamic mosaic.

University of management and technology has organized the dialogue on ‘Interfaith Encounter, possibilities and challenges’, that was arranged by the Center for Global Dialogue and Peace and School of Advanced Studies. The scholars from the US delegation delivered an interesting perception to the aspirants as well as the faculty to figure out the national and international challenges through talk and work on making the relationships.

In his preliminary remarks, Rev. Bob Chase (Founding Director of Intersections International), appreciated Dr. Murad for offering the US delegation an opportunity to visit the UMT and share their views along with their Pakistani colleagues with faculty as well as aspirants. He stressed on that interfaith dialogue was the requirement of the hour without which Christianity, Judaism as well asIslam could not come nearer to one another.

An active Jew and member of Jewish Community, Rabbi Dr. Robert (Reuven) Firestone, a Professor of Medieval Judaism as well as Islam at Hebrew Union College, Los Angeles stated that the Arab – Israel conflict, a phenomenon that influences most of the plans in the present international political system. Even though, most of the people lay stress on enhancing the political as well as diplomatic relations, very few give the importance to religion, not as a root cause of the issue, however as the solution.
