UMT holds conference on engineering education

Lahore: (Press Release) The role of universities in promoting engineering education in Pakistan baggers description, only well-groomed and highly experienced engineers are able to build future of Pakistan; there are many challenges for engineering education and its research, quality instead of quantity of engineers is the need of the hour; the government must take interest in supporting the young engineers who with every passing day are doing showing some innovative work by manufacturing apparatus out of creative ideas.

These views were expressed by the speakers during a conference organized by University of Management and Technology (UMT) here in a local hotel. The conference was inaugurated by Rector of the University Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad and Mr. Javed Saleem Qureshi, chairman Pakistan Engineering Council. A number of engineering scholars, researchers, students, teachers, and attended the conference followed by UMT’s School of Engineering’s Dean, Dr. Saleem Abid Tabassum, Dr. Ejaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Dr. Sajjad Hashmi, Dr. Muhammad Asad, Dr. Usman Rashid and other faculty members.

 “We hope to inspire the delegates by exploring how we can use engineering expertise to make Pakistan better than it was before from the point of view of infrastructure, economy, science and technology,” said Rector Dr. Hasan Sohaib Murad. “Engineers are Pakistan’s capital and we are proud to host the conference here as we look towards a new and sustainable future.” The Rector said.

 UMT’s Engineering Conference will pave way for establishing successful linkages between academia and industry to enhance engineering education and research and encourage innovation among the students. The chairman of Pakistan Engineering Council Mr. Javed Saleem Qureshi appreciated UMT for enhancing quality in engineering education and promoting research in the area. Mr. Qureshi assured that government would fully support engineering education and quality research in the country.
