Peshawar, A memorandum of understanding is going to be signed towards the end of this month between the University of Engineering & Technology (UET), Peshawar and the Cambridge University UK, which has agreed to offer 50 per cent discount on the costs of PhD full scholarships for up to five graduates of the UET per year.
Both the universities will engage in collaborative research projects working together in terms of achieving world’s leading research outputs. University of Engineering & Technology Vice-Chancellor Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani will attend the MoU signing ceremony to be held on March 28, 2011 in Cambridge University during his visit to UK in a delegation of vice-chancellors sponsored by the Higher Education Commission and British Council.
In this connection, an hour-long formal meeting was held on Tuesday in the University of Engineering & Technology Peshawar through video conferencing in which high officials from both the universities attended the interactive session. Prof Dr Sohail Naqvi, Executive Director of Higher Education Commission, also participated from his Islamabad office through video conferencing.
Imtiaz Hussain Gilani thanked the Cambridge University officials for their cooperation and taking keen interest in building this partnership. He also thanked the HEC for extending their blessing and support towards making the program a success.
