Lahore, The University of Health Sciences’ consortium has approved the five-year Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program to be introduced in affiliated institutes on Tuesday, October 11.
The 28th meeting of the University of Health Sciences syndicate was held on Tuesday. Vice-chancellor Prof Malik Mubbashar Husain headed the meeting.
UHS members were of the opinion that the four-year BSc (Hons) physiotherapy course which is being offered in eight affiliated institutes must be upgraded to a five-year DPT programme in line with the guidelines issued by the Higher Education Commission.
Currently the course is being offered by the Allama Iqbal Medical College; the FMH College of Medicine and Dentistry, Lahore; the Rawalpindi Medical College; the Medical and Dental College; and the Armed Forces Postgraduate Medical Institute, Rawalpindi; the Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur; the School of Allied Health Sciences; the Children’s Hospital and the ACE Institute of Health Sciences.
