UET organizes Industrial Open House & Career Fair 2016

Lahore: Public-private partnership can assist the universities in producing the skilled workers as per the industrial requirements, Excise and Taxation Minister Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman said on Thursday.

The Minister was speaking at the opening ceremony of a 2-day International Open House and Career Fair 2016 at University of Engineering and Technology (UET).

Mujtaba Rehman said that mutual efforts could help strengthen the economy of state and raises the living standards of residents. He also added that provincial government had taken some important steps against unemployment.

“Government has started various projects in this respect, these will help in empowering youth and help them in attaining skills”, he added.

Minister said that the government had been determined to strengthen the industry. He stated a flourishing industry will create more jobs. He said that government also encouraged entrepreneurship.

Vice Chancellor of UET Fazal Ahmad Khalid said the connections between the academia and industry could bring the country out of the disasters. He said that UET had been producing graduates along with exceptional abilities. “The leaders of industry should benefit from their talents”, he said.

VC urged the aspirants to prepare themselves with the knowledge of the innovative technologies to deal with the challenges of future. Prof Pervaiz Mughal arranged the complete event and on the occasion said events such as job fair helped bring the academia and industry enough closer. He also said such events provided the participants along with the platform to share their ideas and experience.

While addressing he said the job opportunities and internships offered by industry presented the level of cooperation among the sponsors. He said that over 100 companies were participating in the fair and over 50 stalls had been established.

Some of the final year aspirants were also displaying their projects, he added.
