Quetta: Almost 57 people, mostly the got martyred and 97 injured after three terrorists stormed a police training college in Quetta on Monday night.

As per the reports, the terrorists were in touch along with their handlers in Afghanistan. The three terrorists were wearing suicide jackets.

The three terrorists on Monday attacked the training college at 9.30 pm.

Reportedly, the attackers entered the complex through the front gate after shooting the guard deploying on the check post, and the attack started at exact 9:30 pm.

According to the senior law enforcement agencies, the attackers had fired at the police training centre from five various points.

Reportedly, the two terrorist entered the premises after shooting at the guard manning the check post nearby the front gate, whereas the third attacker climbed the back wall of the police centre.

Two suicide bombers blew themselves up which resulted in the large number of casualties whereas the third terrorist was shot dead by the security forces.

According to the media sources, it took the security forces almost four hours to conduct the search operation as it required accuracy.

The home Minister of Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Ahmed Bugti also confirmed the death rate and said that the clearance operation has been completed successfully.

The attackers were engaged in an spasmodic exchange of fire along with army and FC personnel for several hours, with reports of an inmate situation.

Almost three terrorists were reportedly killed, with security forces saying that the operation has ended.

Three blasts were reported on the location by the media, with one journalist saying that those blasts rocked the area.

Gunfire as well as blasts was heard from inside the centre, which houses almost 600 cadets, as the terrorists were said to be armed along with AK-47s and grenades.

The training college is located on Sariab Road, which is considered as one of the most sensitive areas of Quetta. The attackers have been targeting the security forces in the area for almost a decade.

This police training centre had come under attack in 2008 and 2006, along with the attackers firing rockets into the college playground. The college covers almost an acre of land located about 13 kilometres outside the main city of Quetta.

PM condemns attack

Condemning the attack, Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif instructed the federal and provincial authorities to bring the perpetrators to task as early as possible.

o   Dead bodies and injured were driven to various hospitals of the city where a state of emergency was declared

o   Provincial authorities made arrangements to fly those along with the critical wounds to hospitals in Karachi
