Students protest across Punjab: 28 years record reduced to ashes

Lahore, All education boards of Punjab province have to revise the inter part 1 results 2011 after the violent student protest across the province. CM Shahbaz Sharif announced in a meeting on Saturday and ordered the boards to announce the revise result within 45 days and complete the rechecking applications of inter part 2 within 20 days.

The famous roads of Lahore city become a battlefield when protesting students became violent and tried to enter the Lahore board building but police stopped them at the gate. Then students protest in front of Lahore board building and block the road.

In Gujranwala students enter in the board office and set ablaze the board building, broke the windows and doors, burnt all the record. 20 students and 10 policemen also injured when police fired tear shells and students throw stones on them. 25 students were arrested but later all were released on request of their parents.

Gujranwala board official said that board suffered loss of millions of rupees and record of 28 turned into ashes. Board also alleged the police and fire brigade to come late which may reduce the loss.

Earlier, provincial education Minister announced that inter part 1 result 2011 of four boards Lahore, Gujranwala, Faisalabad and Multan will be re announced but later CM Shahbaz Sharif said that result of all boards would be revised. He further ordered to recheck part 2 papers without any fee. The rechecking fee is RS 700 normally of a paper.

It is appropriate to mention here that the inter part 2 results of Punjab boards were announced on 10 September while the part 1 result on 17 October and lots of mistakes were observed in the both results. Lahore board has to change the position very next day of the result, a student got 52 marks in Pak Studies paper out of 50. Similarly, many students who gave the exams but they were marked absent in some papers.

Due to lots of mistakes in the result student protested against the board officials and demanded to revise result. Student protests were observed in other cities of Punjab province also but the most violent protest was observed in Gujranwala where all the record of board turned into ashes and board faced loss of millions.

Punjab government earlier suspended the BISE chairman Prof Dr. Akram Kashmiri and Syed Ijaz Naqvi, controller examination of Lahore board but most of the students were demanding the removal of Dr. Majid Naeem who is the main player of new online system. Students also blamed that he is close relative of PML-N leader Ishaq Dar and due to this there is no action is taken against him but Ishaq Dar denied this and said Dr Majid Naeem has no relations with him.
