Sindh, The Sindh Madressatul Islam (SMI) University is going to establish a GRE Preparation Centre at the university to provide a platform to students across the Sindh province for the preparation of GRE test without any cost. After that students would be able to pursue education at higher level in foreign educational institutions.

The decision was taken by Vice chancellor of the university, Dr Muhammad Ali Shaikh. He was chairing a meeting of deans and senior officials at the Conference Hall of the university and revealed that every year university awards around 400 Fulbright scholarships to students across the country and for the year 2013 only 10 students could get scholarships after passing GRE across the Sindh province.

The member of Board of Directors of the United States Educational Foundation in Pakistan (USEFP), Dr Shaikh while speaking on the occasion said that students should be encouraged and they must get advantage of Fulbright Scholarships.

The greatest distinction of Sindh Madressah has been that founder of Pakistan, Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah studied here for the longest spell of his academic life from 1887 to 1892 and revered his alma-mater to the extent that he bequeathed one-third of his personal property to Sindh Madressah through his last will. The institution also produced some of leading luminaries of Pakistan including Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto, Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah, Haji Sir Abdullah Haroon, Dr. Umer Bin Mohammad Daudpota and Allama I.I. Kazi in addition to spreading the light of education far and wide.
