SMIU extends form submission date for schools admissions

Karachi, The Sindh Madressatul Islam University (SMIU) has extended the last date for submission of admission form to SMIU Girls Model School and SMIU Boys Model School. Now the application forms can be submitted from April 15 to April 19 while entry test will be held on April 20.

The admissions are offered for limited seats from Class one to five (English-cum-Sindhi medium for boys and girls), from Class VI to IX (Sindhi English medium for girls), Class VI to IX (English-cum-Urdu medium for boys) and Class VI to IX (English-cum-Sindhi medium for boys).

Registration forms can be taken from the admission committees of SMIU Model Schools from April 15 to April 19 by submitting Rs200.

Sindh Madressatul Islam was set up by a great educationist and idealistic of that time, Khan Bahadur Hassanally Effendi (1830-1895). The foundation stone of its Main Building was placed by the Viceroy of India, Lord Dufferin, on 14th November 1887.

It has also great importance because Quaid-i-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah studied there from 1887 to 1892. The eminent scholars of Pakistan including Sir Shahnawaz Bhutto, Sir Ghulam Hussain Hidayatullah, Haji Sir Abdullah Haroon, Dr. Umer Bin Mohammad Daudpota and Allama I.I. Kazi also delivered their lectures.

Sindh Madressah was promoted to "Sindh Madressah College" by its eminent ex-student Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah on June 21, 1943. With passage of time more institutes were established at the college; SM Science College, SM Arts and Commerce College, SM Law College, Fatima Jinnah Girls College and a host of other schools.
 
Lastly after about a century and 69 years remained on the status of a college at hands of Quaid-e-Azam, Sindh Madressatul Islam was upgraded to a University under the commands of President Asif Ali Zardari in February 2012.

After passing the bill in the assembly, Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat ul Ebad Khan given the charter of Sindh Madressatul Islam University and appointed as its first Vice Chancellor to Dr. Muhammad Ali Shaikh.
