Karachi: The Karachi University Teachers Society (KUTS) in association along with the Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association-Sindh (FAPUASA-Sindh) has given a call of strike on August 31st, 2016 if demands of the teachers of Karachi University are not met till 30th August.

As per the details, the KUTS organized a meeting of its general body in University of Karachi regarding their current issues.

The administrators as well as the presidents of teachers’ associations from other six varsities of Sindh also attended the meeting on the special invitation of teaching society.

In the meeting, the Karachi University Teachers Society decided to stage a protest on 31st August 2016 if their demands are not met till the deadline.

The FAPUASA-Sindh supported the strike call and also warned that all theacademic activities in government universities of Sindh Sindh will be suspended on August 31st.

FAPUASA-Sindh President Dr Shah Nawaz Talpur said that the demands of the teachers of Karachi University were right and the varsities of all Sindh stood with them.

He furthermore said that issues of all universities of Sindh were same in nature; however the inefficiency, unbearable behaviour of the KU’s director finance as well as delay in payment of salaries were unbearable.

The president of Teachers Association, Sindh University, Dr Irfana Mallah added that it was unbelievable that teachers of all other varsities of Sindh had been paid the leave encashment but the however the reaching faculty of University of Karachi were deprived of this facility.
