Scottish varsity to set up campus in Knowledge Park

Lahore, The government of the Punjab in collaboration with University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, Scotland is going to establish a campus of University of Strathclyde in the Knowledge Park in Lahore. In this regard a ceremony was organized before the technical session on 2nd day of International Conference on Higher Education, Global Policy Dialogue and Knowledge Parks.

The memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed by Higher Education Secretary Abdullah Khan Sumbal and University of Strathclyde Executive Dean Dr Anthony McGrew. Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Parliamentary Secretary on Higher Education Mehvish Sultana and British Council Education Director for South Asia Michelle Potts were also present at this occasion.

Rana Mashhood said on this occasion that it would be a great advancement for the youth of Punjab by studying in the number one university of the world.  He further revealed that five world class universities will sign a MoUs with the Punjab government on Friday to enhance the educational services with the higher education department. Among these universities US University which is famous for research works in liver and kidney diseases.

More than 10.1 million students are getting education in public sector schools whereas10.05 million students are getting education in the private schools and among these 1.4 million enrolled students are being funded by the Punjab government, he said.

Afterwards, British Council Country Director Peter Upton addressed in the technical session of the conference whereas Fatima Jinnah Women’s University Vice Chancellor Prof Samina Amin Qadir, Bangladesh’s Asian Women University Vice Chancellor Dr Fahima Aziz, Malaysia’s Leads Consulting Education Director Prof Jasbir Kaur and British Council Research Director Dr Maryum Rab highlighted the role of women in the enhancement of research culture in Pakistan, research networks and talent management.
