Role of quality in higher education highlighted at workshop

The workshop on the ‘Quality assurance in higher education’ was conducted by the quality assurance as well as the enhancement cell of University of Wah in association along with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) at university.

The speakers at the workshop on Monday explained the importance of quality in higher education. Mohammad Ismail, the consultant quality assurance division, as well as Muneer Ahmed, the deputy director quality assurance division, Higher Education Commission, gives details about the importance and the role of quality in higher education.

However, Mr Ismail said that some universities of Pakistan were included among the top universities of the world; quality of higher education in Pakistan normally lacked the international compatibility as well as the competitiveness.

He moreover said that the gaps in different zones of educational quality called for an extremely focused approach to improve the quality of education and also the research in our universities. He also added that the improvement in education quality was a difficult task which can just be accomplished along with the wholehearted efforts by all the concerned in the academic and also the administrative scopes.

He said that the panels of experts had been set up by the Higher Education Commission to review the higher education institutions. He also said that obeying the special directions from the prime minister, so far the higher education commission has reviewed the quality assurance as well as the governance mechanism of 100 universities both in the government as well as in the private zone.

The vice chancellor of the University of Wah Prof Dr Khaliqur Rehman Shad on the event assured for his support to all the same future endeavors.
