Registration of 46 private schools suspended for disobeying government orders

Karachi: The Board of directors of Private Institutions, Sindh has suspended the registration of almost 46 private schools on Saturday for breaking the orders of education and literacy department to announce early summer vacations.

Education Secretary Dr Fazullah Pechuho had instructed the schools to observe summer holidays from 19^th May to July 24^th, 2016. The director of (Directorate of Private Institutions) General Dr Mansoob Hussain Siddiqui told media sources that no one would be permitted to challenge the summons of the government.

“The minister for Education had announced the early summer vacations after asking the education secretary and the decision was made keeping the extreme hot weather in mind,” he said.

He also said that all 23 districts of Sindh, including Karachi, were experiencing hot and humid weather on regular basis as well as also suffering from the continued power failures and shortage of water, so in this condition it was almost impossible for children, teachers and their families to manage schooling.

“Large number of private schools authorities were mentally prepared for this decision and was expecting it as it was earlier discussed by the authorities on various events and it was widely assumed that an early summer break will be declared”, he added.

He criticized the schools as well as the private schools association which were saying that they required more time for the announcement of summer vacations as they had to assign homework to aspirants. “Why cannot these schools give homework to their students in one day?”

He furthermore said that board of controllers was short-staffed and faced problems in visiting each and every school in a single day. Though, we will start this task on Monday, Tuesday, and other days to come to check if there is any disobedience of the government’s orders.”
