Washington, While introducing the new book Pakistan-Unique Origins; Unique Destiny?, Former Senator and Federal Minister of Pakistan Javed Jabbar said that our new generation must be made aware of our reality and inception so that our youth lead our country to the progress. He said that half of our population is below 25 years of age and they should be taught high qualification to build a healthy nation. He said these words at an event arranged jointly by Washington-based Karachi University Alumni Association and NED Alumni Association.
Mr. Jabbar wrote positive achievements of Pakistan from the beginning, as our country came into being with lots of disadvantages and difficulties. The words written in his book are “Pakistan was born with many disadvantages --- the state was created but was denied the apparatus needed to run a state --- it also had to grapple with the security challenges vis-a-vis India,”
Specially he highlighted and entertained the different types of development made by the government and private sectors. He said that Economic development is remarkable by the private sectors. Pakistani individuals made a name of Pakistan in all over the world in various fields, he said.
Meanwhile Jabbar also pays attention to the social and political challenges which our country needs to overcome. Talking about the basic needs like security and education which state has to provide to the citizens he said “At the societal level, the people should embrace universal humanism,”
To maintain democracy he said that voting must be made compulsory as “democracy is not a spectator’s sport.” According to Mr. Jabbar Pakistan has already made awareness to many issues and started going towards the advancement, which is likely to continue in phases as it a diverse and large population.
The 1st edition of book is published in Urdu and Sindhi languages and is sold in Pakistan; same book is also published in India named “Pakistan Identity and Destiny.”
Mr. Jabbar was warmly welcomed and praised for the success of his book on the event by Khalida Ali, President of Karachi Alumni Association, M Talha General Secretary, Athar Javed and Tanveer Malik of NED Alumni Association.
