Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has approved the launching of a ‘motorbike ambulance service’ in Lahore as well as some other major cities of the province.
An official privy to the information told the media sources that the CM had approved the launch of almost 100 ‘motorbikes’ in the provincial capital whereas 50 each in Gujranwala, Faisalabad, Multan as well as Rawalpindi districts.

As per the earlier reports, the scheme is supposed to be launched to pick injured persons or to deal these emergencies in congested areas of cities where the access to ambulances remains an issue always.
Furthermore, the official said that the motorbikes will rush to narrow streets, small roads or badly accessed localities.
He said that the four-wheeler ambulances will follow the bikes up to main roads to receive the injured from bikers to shift them to the concerned hospitals.

He said that the two trained rescuers will be dispatched along with the essential first-aid equipment or tools to deal along with the emergency on motorbike ambulances.
The official said that the idea was derived from the Turkey, United Kingdom and Japan models.
He said that the director-general of Rescue 1122 had forwarded the plan to the CM under the health reforms programme.
