PU launches Active Citizens Programme

Along with the association of British Council and Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, Punjab University has introduced Active Citizens Programme to raise the engagement of aspirants together with community and society to a great extent.

 In this respect, an orientation seminar was organized yesterday at the auditorium of the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies in which a selection of faculty members of eight departments participated. While addressing to the conference, the dean of the Faculty of Behavioral and Social Sciences Prof Dr Zakria Zakar said that the main aim and objective of the programme was to grow the capacity of the faculty as well as the aspirants to develop cross-cultural communication and the intercultural dialogue. He also said that this program will help the students and young faculty members for project planning, execution as well as to improve the effective role of youth in development of community.

He deliberated this program quite useful for the development of vivacious, peaceful, humanistic, lenient as well as unrestricted Pakistan. The departments that participated in that conference include Law College, Centre for Undergraduate Studies, Institute of Chemistry, Department of Botany, Institute of Chemical Engineering and Technology, Institute of Agricultural Sciences and also the Institute of Social and Cultural Studies.

The main personalities of the programme Rahla Rahat and Asma Yunus greeted the British Council team and also certified for the full cooperation from the administration of university for the success of the programme. The resource individuals from British Council provided in-depth briefing on the aims, purposes as well as the methodology of the programme. The orientation session will be followed up along with the faculty training in month of September.
