Lahore: Pakistan’s largest 3-day book fair organized by management of University of the Punjab concluded here on Saturday at New Campus while almost 184882 books were sold in the book fair, setting a new record of the largest selling in the book fair. Last year, approximately 167000 books were sold in the book fair.

While talking to media, PU Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that the largest retailing’s of books in such a hot weather reflected that if books were provided on discounted price, books reading culture can be promoted in our society. He applauded the efforts of book fair administration committees as well as the security officials for organizing this book fair successfully.

On the last day of book fair, Punjab Educaion Minister Rana Mashood Ahamd Khan, MNA Pervaiz Malik, MPAs Waheed Alam, Khawaja Imran Nazir, former Education Minister Mian Imran Masood, senior reporters including Sohail Warraich, Bushra Rehman, analysts Justice (R) Nazir Ghazi, Saeed Aasi, Afzal Rehan, writers, families, students as well as the other well-known personalities of society also visited the book fair.

Large number of people from all fields of life, particularly a large number of families, crowded PU book fair and purchased books of their interest from different bookstalls. During the last hours, the book retailers started to give over 50% discounts on books because of which the sale of books got an extra-ordinary momentum.
