Rawalpindi, Taking advantage of the shortage of government colleges for boys in the city, private colleges have increased their fees.
Parents have no other option but to pay high fees, as they have to admit their children in educational institutions for further studies.
In private education institutes, admissions in any class remain open throughout the year, which give a chance to students, who could not get admission in government colleges, to continue their studies. But these colleges are taking full advantage of the situation in Rawalpindi and no concerned authorities are there to check their fee structure.
Mostly boys get admission in private colleges, as there are only four government colleges in Rawalpindi city, which are not enough to accommodate all or major chunk of students.
The parents of the students while talking to ‘The News’ said that many of them couldn’t give education to their children just because they could not afford heavy fees of private colleges. They demanded that more government colleges for boys should be built in Rawalpindi city. They said that if it is not possible immediately at least fee structure of private colleges should be checked and put under control.
Rizwan Shah, a father, said that he tired his best for getting admission for his son in a government college in Rawalpindi but failed in his attempt. He said now he has admitted his son in a private college where he is paying three times high fee as compared to any government college.
Inwar ul Haq, another father, said that his son failed to get admission in government college after passing his matriculation examination. “Now I am not in a position to bear the high fee of private colleges and that’s why my son has left getting further education and now learning tailoring at a shop,” he said.
“Our leaders don’t have time to think and make new policies for the lower middle class of this country and this is the main reason that this class is facing lots of financial issues and committing suicides,” he added.
