Preston University organizes inter-varsity singing competition

Islamabad, Preston University organized inter varsity singing competition in which students of different universities of the country unleashed their singing prowess.

The mega music gala was organised as part of ‘Fall Fest 2012’ in which several inter-university competitions such as T-20 cricket, table tennis, badminton, Qirat, bilingual debate, drama and singing were held, says a press release.
 
The universities which participated in the singing competition were Hamdard University, Islamabad; Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad; University of Punjab, Lahore; GC University, Lahore; Federal Urdu University, Islamabad; Pir Mehar Ali Shah-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi, and Preston University, Islamabad, Kohat, and Lahore.
 
The singing competition was divided into two categories, male and female. Well known modern singers Rukhsana Mumtaz, Abbas Ali Khan and Mr. Gul were the judges at the competition. Renowned playback singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan graced the occasion by his eminent presence as chief guest.
 
The students of the participating universities pleased the audience by their amusing performances. The singing prowess of the participants made it very difficult for the judges to formulate their decision vis-a-vis the first, second and third position in both the categories.
 
In the female category, Bakhtawar Anjum from the University of Punjab, Lahore, was declared the best and was awarded first position. The second position in the competition was grabbed by Sehrish Tabassum from Preston University, Islamabad. Third position in the female category was won by Javeria Jaffery from Hamdard University, Islamabad.
 
In the male category, Nauman Ali from University College Punjab, Lahore, was awarded first position for his brilliant performance. Saad Farooq from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, won the second position. Hasnain Javed from the University of Punjab, Lahore, got third position in the competition.
 
Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan profoundly praised the singing prowess of the participating students. He praised the efforts of Preston University to organise various inter-university competitions every year.
 
Shafqat Amanat Ali stressed over that such events should be organised regularly as it provides the students, the youth of this country, an opportunity to unleash their talent in extracurricular activities.
