Islamabad, Malala Yousufzai, a brave Pakistani girl living in militancy-hit Swat, will be awarded with National Peace Award, by Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani announced on Thursday. She will also be awarded with Rs500,000 prize money, an official statement added.
Malala Yousufzai has also been nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize 2011 for raising her voice for girls’ education in troubled Swat, where girls were not only banned from attaining education but their schools were also destroyed by the militants.
While congratulating Malala Yousufzai’s family, the prime minister also instructed the Cabinet division to distribute the National Peace Award every year to children less than 18 years of age.
