PhD- faculty leaving from Balochistan universities

The PhD faculty members from Balochistan universities are fleeing from the province and are getting settled in other parts of the country due to financial and security issues.  More than 70 staff members have been departed while federal and provincial governments including Higher Education Commission (HEC) had been failed so far to pay the wages to the faculty members.

Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), annual report released recently states while commenting on the state of Higher Education in Balochistan that HEC had formed a special working group for Balochistan over a year ago to assess and promote higher education in the province, but the group failed even to pay a single visit to a  province.

As per the report the idea of forming special work force comprising of prominent educationists for evaluation and promotion of education in the Balochistan province was presented by former chief minister Balochistan Dr Abdul Malik Baloch on july 25, 2013. The main task designed for the work force was to maintain and promote education by keeping national standards and to improve the infrastructure of educational institutes but later the force was made abolished.

The report stated that Balochistan was the worst province among all in performing educational tasks and also the province receives the lowest budget share from HEC.

In all the three performance indicators of net primary enrolment ratio, survival rate and literacy rate the Balochistan province showed poor performance even lower than the national average and targets.
