Rawalpindi, The Punjab Education Foundation PEF decided to spend Rs20 billion on promotion of higher education in Punjab. PEF chairman Raja Anwar at the annual function of private colleges, announced that funds had been reserved to produce best human resources in different disciplines of the country.
Provincial government had allocated Rs6.5 billion for higher education during the current fiscal year and the fund would be doubled in the next two years, PEF chairman said. He also said that Punjab government will bring a revolution in higher education sector till 2013. Punjab government is giving top priority to promotion of quality education in higher education sector.
PEF chairman mentioned that the introduction of IT in higher education is a dire need of the time and in this regard, provincial government will setup computer labs in 28 colleges in its first phase. These measures in higher education will provide best economic managers and team leaders in different fields, he said.
