Lahore: The remark of Chairperson of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Shaharyar Khan about the lack of educated players in the national team being a main reason for the cricket’s downfall was not expected to settle well with everyone.
It was no surprise when Mohammad Hafeez, popularly referred as ‘professor’, rose to the team’s defence.

Hafeez in a Question and Answer session on Twitter replied to the comments of Shaharyar Khan, avowing his views on the importance of education in cricket. Hafeez was asked:

Making it clear that he did not agree with the views of chairperson, Hafeez said that while education was important for everyone, receiving degrees was not enough in life.

While talking to media in Quetta, Shaharyar Khan made the provocative comments last week.
“There are no graduate players in the team presently excluding Misbah and the absence of educated players in the team is a main cause for its recent downfall” Shaharyar said.
The skilled batsman is not attending the on-going boot camp in Kakul as he is undergoing recovery for a knee problem at the national academy in Lahore.
The 35 years old person is also doubtful for the upcoming tour of Pakistan to England because of injury.
