The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed among the CIU-Trucking PAKSTRAN Project as well as NUST University to support the sustainable transport initiatives Sustainable transport field that is a cross-cutting, interconnected and knowledge intensive domain;  hence, the agreement was signed yesterday between National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) and Component Implementation Unit-Trucking of UNDP/GEF Pakistan Sustainable Transport (PAKSTRAN) project which is being executed by the Government of Pakistan.

The main objective and target of this activity is to deliver the research oriented technical support to strengthen the institutional capacity of the related federal as well as the provincial government departments to stimulate the sustainable transport plans in  the country.

To address the matters of the transport Pakistan Sustainable Transport (PAKSTRAN) project is perceived and also it is sponsored by UNDP and GEF which is being executed by the Ministry of Water and Power, Government of Pakistan.

The activities of the PAKSTRAN project are implemented under the supervision as well as the support of Mr. Hassan Nasir Jamy who was the chief guest on the ceremony.

The agreement that was signed yesterday will facilitate the project team on the matter of reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and also the energy consumption from transport zone along with the technical aid from the academia and subject professionals.

 This MoU was signed by Additional Secretary, Ministry of Water and Power/National Project Director PAKSTRAN Project, Mr. Hasan Nasir Jammy and by Principal SCEE-NUST School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) Dr. Tariq Mahmood.

On the ceremony Additional Secretary, Ministry of Water and Power/ National Project Director, PAKSTRAN, Mr. Hassan Nasir Jamy, congratulated the team of Component Employment Unit- Trucking PAKSTRAN project as well as the faculty of NUST on this beneficial initiative.

He moreover valued the efforts of the National Project Manager for appealing academia in attaining the sustainable development objectives in Pakistan. the principal of NUST expressed his desire to work in association along with the Ministry of Water and Power the Implementing Partner and Trucking Component of PAKSTRAN Project.
