Abbottabad: After a wait of almost one year, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Pakistan has issued a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to the Abbottabad University of Science & Technology (AUST).

The NOC has been initially issued for 6 months for nine disciplines of the AUSTs undergraduate programs that includes management sciences, psychology, pharmacy, English, mathematics, information technology, microbiology, economics as well as Pakistan studies.

The provincial government officially notified AUST as a full-fledged university in June 2015.

Though, the university failed to get an NOC after an HEC inspection team pointed out specific weaknesses.

As per the Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Iftikhar Ahmed, higher Education commission had pointed out that the university needed to appointment a Vice Chancellor, set up managerial bodies and acquire sufficient faculty as well as buildings to obtain the NOC.

Dr Ahmed said that all the requirements had now been met.

He furthermore said that AUST will soon emerge as one of the best universities in the state.

“AUST is located on one of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor routes as well as near the central point of divisional headquarters. This will allow the fast track development,” vice chancellor said.
