Karachi, The Board of Secondary Education Karachi (BSEK) will invite educationists to seek their suggestions about prospective changes in syllabi, and proposals regarding the how to improve the education system, said BSEK Chairman Anzar Hussain Zaidi while talking to journalists on Tuesday.

Zaidi said that the Board would invite experienced educationists every month so as to hear their views about system could be improved, and subsequently, the Board would try to implement their recommendations.

“The current syllabus requires some serious changes, and educationists would be requested to recommend changes to it. As the chairman of the Board I will talk to the authorities concerned to implement them,” Zaidi said. He also urged media personnel to step forward, and share their suggestions with the Board in this regard.

Zaidi said that there is a lack of proper training in the Board, which in turn leads to corruption and incompetence. “There must be a system to fix the loopholes present in the education sector, and in the Board in particular,” he said.

He maintained that the Board would not tolerate corruption and incompetence, and the staff has also been warned to avoid any unethical and unprofessional practices at work.

Zaidi said that the Board would introduce manual and computerised tabulations of exam results to minimise corruption and errors. He also agreed to review the policy on late fees.

The BSEK chairman also urged journalists not to publish ‘negative stories’ related to the Board, claiming that such stories might have a negative impact on students. “Let me know what is wrong first, and tell me where it is happening. Give me some time to fix the problem, and if I can’t resolve the issue, then publish it by all means. But let us try first at least,” Zaidi said.
