Lahore: Information Technology University (ITU) and the US embassy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for the construction of a Lincoln Corner inside the premises of university.

The agreement was signed by the Vice Chancellor of ITU Dr Umar Saif and Deputy Chief of Mission for the American Embassy in Pakistan Jonathan Pratt.

Situated within universities, public libraries, as well as other institutes, Lincoln Corners are platforms for delivering the information regarding United States, English language learning, Education USA, cultural programmes as well as alumni activities.

Dr Umar Saif while talking to media said that “Lincoln Corner is an exceptional opportunity to construct bridges as well as to increase mutual understanding between Pakistan and United States (US)”.

On the other hand, Pratt said “Lincoln Corner Lahore will hold academic programmes, speakers from the US, and the English language activities as well as the cultural events such as the Ari Roland Jazz Quartet that recently performed at the university”.

Lincoln Corners are relationships between the embassy and consulates of the United States of America and chosen institutions in Pakistan. These interims promote open dialogue, counter negative presumptions, and construct the bridges of understanding.
