Lahore: Chief Minister of Punjab Shahbaz Sharif on Thursday organized a special ceremony to honour position holders of matric annual exams 2016 at his Model Town residence.
In the ceremony he distributed laptops and cheque of Rs 100,000 to each student, and also announced to bear all future educational expenses of position holders.
“These brilliant students are our heroes who attained prominent positions through their hard work, ability and skills,” he added.
While addressing he said that the provincial government will all the educational expenses of position holders through Punjab Education Endowment Fund (PEEF).
He congratulated the students, their parents, teachers as well as the principals of their institutes and said that these aspirants are the shining stars of Pakistan and that every goal can be achieved through hard work.
He moreover said that the Pakistan of Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and Dr Allama Muhammad Iqbal was not where the children of the elite can only study whereas those along with the low resources were deprived of it. He said that the time had come that a innovative policy for equipping the youth of nation along with education and steps be taken for lessening the gulf among the rich and poor.

He said that the objective of holding a simple ceremony was to bring the heroes of nation in front of the nation itself, whereas a big ceremony will soon be organized for awarding prizes to them.
Shahbaz Sharif saluted the of head mistress of the schools of two girls for inspiring their parents to send them to school and bearing expenses of their education from their own pocket and appreciated their attitude.
The position holders of matric exams, their parents, officials of HEC, and chairpersons of different education boards, Education Department officials as well as several columnists also attended the ceremony.
