Lahore: A student of Punjab University Law College was kidnaped from his hostel room and beaten in spite of the presence of guards, after he tweeted in favour of missing activist Salman Haider, on Tuesday.
As per the details, the student identified as Sohail was kidnapped by almost 15 people from his hostel at a time when the hostel guards were on duty.

The victim while describing the incident said that almost 15 people dragged him outside, put a blanket over him and after that started thrashing him for some time before taking him to the courtyard of hostel.
The victim suspected that the attackers belonged to a student organization.
Sohail said that he was targeted as he tweeted in support of the Islamabad-based missing Salman Haider and also shared a poem of Faiz Ahmed Faiz to express the harmony with him.
The victim also felt angered because he was crying for help but no security guard deployed to protect students came forward to save him.
He was released near Mustafa Town after 3 hours.

As per the unconfirmed reports, some members of the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT), the student wing of the Jamaat-e-Islami were supposedly behind the incident.
But, IJT representative Amjad Bukhari while confirming the incident said the issue exploded because of the personal clash between the students of University Law College and Punjab University.
‘The Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba has nothing to do with it,’ he added.
On the other hand, PU Chairperson Hall Council Dr Abid Hussain said that the suspects did not take the victim to any room however beat him up in the open.
‘After the incident took place, the vice-chancellor had also visited the hostel’ said Abid.

It is important to mention that Salman Haider, an Islamabad-based activist and professor went missing on January 7th, 2017.
A text message sent from the phone of Salman Haider to his wife said the car should be taken from Koral Chowk.
