KU begins MS, MD, MPhil and PhD admissions 2014

Karachi, University of Karachi has announced MPhil, MPhil leading to PhD, PhD, MS and MD admissions for the session 2014. 

 

The University of Karachi is a premier institution of higher learning and research with its 54 Teaching Departments and 17 Research Centres / Institutes. The University caters to the needs of more than 35,000 Students. Applications are invited from candidates interested in pursuing post-graduate degree programs at the University of Karachi.

 

The admissions are open by Faculty of Arts in Arabic, Economics, English linguistics (M. Phil, only)), English literature (M. Phil, only), General History, International Relations (and also M.Phil in Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution), Islamic History, Mass Communication, Persian, Philosophy, Political Science, Psychology, Sindhi, Sociology, Social Work, Urdu. Faculty of Science offering in  Agriculture & Agribusiness Management, Applied Chemistry, Applied Physics, Botany, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Computer Science, Food Science 4 Technology, Genetics, Geography, Geology, Microbiology, Physics, Physiology, Statistics, Zoology.

 

For MPhil admission a candidate must have at least Sixteen Years of Studies (M A. M Sc,  M B A , M.PA. MAS.. M I S . M Com . 4-Year B S.. B. Pharm, Pharm D.. MBBS, BDS, DVM BS/B.E Engineering) or its equivalent qualification with at least second division in the relevant field from an HEC recognized University. However, candidates with MBBS, BDS, DVM, B.Pharm or equivalent qualification will be required to successfully complete 15 Credit Hour Courses (300 - 600 Level) before undertaking 24-Credit Hour M.Phil. Courses (700 Level). MPhil, MPhil leading to PhD and Ph.D. 

 

The eligibility criteria for MS and MD admission: Bachelors of Medicine and Bachelors of Surgery (M.B.B.S.) & B.D.S. or Equivalent Qualification from a recognized University in addition to One Year House Job with valid PMDC Registration.

 

For PhD: M.S., M. Pharm., M. Phil, LLM (applicable only for Faculty of Law) or its equivalent qualification in the relevant field from an HEC recognized University.

 

Admission will be granted on the basis of Test / Interview to be conducted by the Departmental Research Committee in accordance with the instructions given in the Admission Prospectus-2014.

 

Admission Prospectus and Form can be downloaded from the website (uok.edu.pk). Complete application form along with the required documents & processing fee of Rs. 2,500 (Pay Order) in favour of University of Karachi and can be submitted in the respective Departments from 28 May. 2014 to 9 June, 2014. Applicants for Karachi University admissions in MS/MD & Ph.D. (Law) are required to attach processing fee of Rs. 6,000/- (Pay Order) in favour of University of Karachi to be submitted in the BASR Office. Incomplete and late applications will not be entertained.

 

Display of list of eligible candidates for KU Entrance Test will be displayed on website on June 14, 2014 while collection of Admit Cards from relevant Departments/Centers/Institutes from June 16 to June 20, 2014. Entrance test will be organized on June 22 at 10am. 

 

Candidates are required to report at 09:30 am at the Centre with Admit Card and Original CNIC. For further information/details, visit the university website. 

 

Degree Holders of Pakistani private/ foreign HEC recognized institutions must obtain the equivalence of their degree from the Deputy Registrar (Academics) of the University of Karachi before the provisional admission.
