PESHAWAR: Khyber Medical University (KMU), Peshawar has announced schedule for Entry Test 2010 for admissions in the public and private sector medical colleges of the province.

The schedule was announced after a meeting chaired by KMU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Hafizullah. Principals of all the government-run and private medical and dental colleges from across the province attended the meeting.

This is for the first time that the entry test would be conducted by the Khyber Medical University. Earlier it used to be organized by the Entry Testing and Evaluation Authority (EATA). The test would be held on August 8 simultaneously at Karnal Sher Khan Stadium, Peshawar and Ayub Medical College (AMC), Abbottabad.

Application forms will be issued from July 19 and could be submitted from July 21 to August 1 at Institute of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (IPM&R), Hayatabad Peshawar and AMC, Abbottabad. The entry test forms and admit cards will be available for Rs1,000 at the prescribed branches of National Bank of Pakistan in various cities of the province.

Addressing the meeting, Dr Hafizullah said that in future for the comfort of the students registration process shall be started early and hopefully will be entirely web-based and there will be multiple centres in the province instead of only two.

The vice-chancellor said the KMU would only make the arrangements for registration and holding of the Entry Test 2010 and the admissions in the colleges would be done as per previous procedure.Two committees were constituted to oversee the arrangements for registration and entry test.

The committee for Abbottabad will be headed by Prof Dr Muhammad Ayub, vice principal AMC, Abbottabad, and the committee for Peshawar will be supervised by Prof Dr Abid Hussain of Khyber Girls Medical College, Peshawar. Every medical and dental college will nominate one faculty member for their respective committee.
