Lahore: The Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT) is currently working on promoting and enhancing the ICT zone in Pakistan. The Ministry is already working on various plans in this regard.

As per the representative from the ministry, the National ICT Scholarship programme by Prime Minister is one of the steps in the promotion of ICT zone. The aspirants from the rural as well as marginalized regions of the state are provided scholarships as well as the chance at getting a quality education in the fields of ICT.

The spokesperson also told that since 2013, full scholarships worth Rs 1.1 billion have been provided to almost 909 aspirants crosswise the country and these students are chasing ICT related degrees in top universities of the state.

He moreover said that via National Grassroots ICT Research Initiative, 866 final year projects have been sponsored. The research funds of these projects were worth Rs 54.72 since 2013.

“The Ministry of IT associated along with Microsoft to start computer labs in Bait-ul-Mal women empowerment centres for girls crosswise the country where computer abilities will be taught” he added.

Between 2013 and 2015, 800 Information technology graduates or those candidates in their last year of studies have been placed as internees in various firms of information technology. The same internship programme will be launched which will permit 3,000 ICT graduates to get valuable working experience.

While replying to a question regarding the types on internship, the representative said “IT interns have been qualified in gaming and animation, android app development, iPhone programming, responsive based mobile app development and .net programming in 2014-15.”

Furthermore he said that the main aim of this programme is to help the young teams along with the pioneering ideas to appropriate startups with the complete business opportunities.
