Lahore, Vice Chancellor Lahore College for Women University Dr. Sabiha Mansoor has emphasized the need to enhance cooperation among Islamic countries in the field of education. Speaking to Mr. Abbas Famoori, the Director General Culture Centre of Iran, who called on her in Vice Chancellor Office on Wednesday, Dr. Sabiha Mansoor said that Iran and Pakistan has a common historical as well as cultural background.
Both countries can make the best use of each other’s talent by exchange programme. Universities from both sides can sign MOUs to develop cooperation in academic and cultural fields. Iran is an exemplary country where women are free to perform their vital role in national development.
LCWU also has initiated a number of comprehensive programs for women development she added. Director General Abbas Famoori said on the occasion that Iranian Study Centre at LCWU is the symbol of Pak Iran friendship and Iran will do more to increase this cooperation in the field of education and culture. Iran will offer scholarships to LCWU’s scholar in the field of languages, literature and culture.
He expressed his hope that Iran Study Centre will be proved an impressive plate form for the promotion of Persian and Urdu as well. The meeting was attended by Dean of Social Science Mrs Riffat Saqlain, Dean of languages Mrs Noshaba Farooq and Incharge Irania Study Centre LCWU Faleeha Kazmi. Irania diplomate presented a piece of calligraphy to the Vice Chancellor.
