Islamabad: International Islamic University (IIU) and the government of the Islamic Republic of Gambia have agreed to fortify bilateral cooperation via academic relationships.

President of International Islamic University Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh announced on MoU signing ceremony between the two sides that that the varsity will offer 10 scholarships to the Gambian aspirants.

This agreement was signed on the event of the visit of the Gambian Minister of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology, Prof. Dr. Aboubacar A. Senghore to IIUI. The Gambian minister, who is also a graduate of IIUI, called on Director of International Islamic University Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and its President Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh and discussed the matters related to the mutual connections’.

According to the signed agreement IIU will provide 10 scholarships to the Gambian aspirants whereas Shariah Academy of International Islamic University will provide training to the judges of The Gambia.

The Gambian minister also presented a speech in front of the on campus African students, where he praised IIU services and also shared his old memories and also termed the varsity as a source of his success in his life.

He furthermore, urged the African aspirants to be loyal with their studies and said that they were lucky to be at the center of learning, the IIU, which he said is one of the exceptional educational institutions of Muslim world.

Afterwards, a dinner was hosted by the president of International Islamic University in honour of Dr. Aboubacar which was also attended by the Vice President Dr. Muhammad Munir Khan, Students Advisor (Male) Dr. Arshad Zia as well as the other officials of university.
