The Higher Education Commission Pakistan has requested expression of interest hiring for Higher Education Development in Pakistan Project which was published in the newspaper on Sunday 29 December 2019. The development objective of the Higher Education Development Project for Pakistan is to support research excellence in strategic sectors of the economy, improve teaching and learning and strengthen governance, in the higher education sector.

Higher Education Development in Pakistan Project

The Higher Education Development in Pakistan Project will improve tertiary education teaching and learning, support research excellence by economic growth rate and will also strengthen higher education governance. Moreover, the Higher Education Development in Pakistan Project has basically five primary components and secondary subcomponents which are as follows.

  1. Nurturing Academic Excellence in Strategic Sectors

The first component, Nurturing Academic Excellence in Strategic Sectors, aims to help promote relevant and cutting-edge research in universities in Pakistan, with a focus on specific strategic sectors for the country’s socio-economic progress. It has the following subcomponents:

  1. Promoting Innovative and Relevant Research
  2. Encouraging Entrepreneurship and Self-employment
  3.  Local Challenge Funds
  1. Supporting Decentralized Higher Education Institutes

The second component, Supporting Decentralized Higher Education Institutes for Improved Teaching and Learning, aims to improve the quality of education delivered by universities and affiliated colleges (ACS). It has the following subcomponents:

  1. Strengthening the Affiliation System
  2. Bringing Education in Affiliated Colleges and Affiliating Universities in line with International Best Practices
  1. Higher Education Institutions with Modern Technology

The third component, Equipping Students and Higher Education Institutions with Modern Technology, aims to leverage technology to improve the teaching, learning and research environment in Pakistan. It has the following subcomponents:

  1. Enhancing PERN Activities
  2. Expanding PERN Vertically
  1. Management Information System and Data-Driven Services

The fourth component, Higher Education Management Information System and Data-Driven Services, aims to improve the collection and use of data for national-level policy-decisions while automating business processes in higher education institutions. It has the following subcomponents:

  1. Higher Education Commission (HEC’s) Data Repository
  2. Digitization of University Administration
  1. Higher Education Capacity Building

The fifth component, Capacity Building through Partnerships, Project Management, Monitoring, and Evaluation, aims to support HEC in strengthening its core functions of regulation, capacity building, and funding of Pakistan’s higher education sector through strategic and targeted Technical Assistance (TA).

Last Date For Application Submission

The last date to submit online application forms for the vacant position in Higher Education Development in Pakistan Project has been extended to 22 January 2020. All applicants are informed to apply before the extended deadline provided by Higher Education Commission Pakistan.
