LAHORE: The Curriculum Revision Committee presented a new curriculum
for BS (Hons) Mass Communication at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Regional
Headquarters.
HEC Member (Academics) Dr Riazul Tariq was the meeting’s chief guest. Dr
Tariq stressed the need for research publications and for teachers to adopt modern
teaching techniques. He said the four-year BS (Hons) programme would consist of
130 to 136 credit hours in all universities of the country.
Earlier, chairman of the session, Punjab University Institute of Communication
Studies Director Dr Mugeesuddin Sheikh, said the committee had proposed a modernised
and model framework, which the universities could adopt according to the infrastructure
available to them. He said all universities should adopt the framework to ensure
education of international standard all over the country.
The committee proposed a template of the curriculum for BS (Hons) Mass Communication
consisting of eight semesters and 130 credit hours. It also decided that universities
could add six more credit hours if needed.
