Lahore, The Government College University Lahore Wednesday first time celebrated the Christmas with the university’s minority community at a colorful ceremony at the university’s Abdus Salam Hall which was especially decorated in a traditional style with a large Christmas tree, lights, flowers, wreaths and flags. Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman was the Chief Guest of the ceremony which was attended by all faculty members including Georgian Physicist Prof. Dr. Tamaz Kaladze, Academic Staff Association President Prof. Dr. Hassan A. Shah, Non-Gazetted Staff Association President Khaliq Hussain and students and staff members from minority community.
Cutting the Christmas cake, the Vice Chancellor announced one special holiday for the Christian staff of the university. He reminded the GCU staff of Quaid-e-Azam’s message that all Pakistanis are equal irrespective of religion or caste. He called on the teachers to spread the message of love, peace and unity among their students.
Talking to media, the GCU minority staff members said that Pakistan especially GCU is a heaven for minority community where all our Muslim brothers love us and share our happiness and sorrows. He said that they would never forget the love extended to them by the new vice chancellor.
