Pakistan and Canada together can make meaningful development in various fields of education, agriculture and women empowerment said High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan Ross Garfield Hynes.
He announced Fulbright scholarships and urged the Pakistani students to compete this challenge and gain the scholarships. Development of livestock and benefits in veterinary sector can be made by the collaboration of both countries. A five-member Canadian delegation mission led by Hynes called upon the (UVAS) Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz and discussed about the benefits in different fields together by both countries.
A meeting was held including VC of University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr. Muhammad Nawaz, Senior trade commissioner of Canadian High Commission Robert N Webb, commissioner trade Ali Khan, Ms Orrick White and High Commissioner's wife Ms Vanessa Hynes, when they visited UVAS.
More, Professor Dr Talat Naseer Pasha, dean faculty of veterinary sciences Professor Dr Nasim Ahmad, dean faculty of bio-sciences Professor Dr Ijaz Ahmad, director institute of pharmaceutical sciences Dr Farzana Chaudhry, director institute of biochemistry and biotechnology Professor Dr Masroor Elahi Baber, director university diagnostic lab Professor Dr Masood Rabbani and UVAS Registrar Dr Kamran Ashraf were also present at the meeting with Vice Chancellor.
Discussing the livestock sector Mr. Ross Garfield Hynes said that this sector is playing an important role to lift up the economy of Pakistan and the contribution of University is remarkable.
University faculty members were also told about the Canadian Semex Organisation for good farmers. They told that according to the international Committee for animal recording in Franc, Canada leads the world in Production of Milk for the last 10 years.
